Jason has a career filled with working in and around the engineering and manufacturing sector in Georgia. Through the years, he had a suspicion that there was something missing – and speaking with his industry peers, those suspicions were confirmed. Manufacturing and engineering professionals in the state needed a venue in which to learn and share with each other. Jason's forward thinking became a passion and a driving force to create that very space.

Instead of remaining idle, Jason took it upon himself to create what is now known as the Georgia Manufacturing Alliance. Eschewing tradition, Jason formed GMA as a for­ profit organization, even though it walks, talks, and acts like a traditional association. As this new group found its footing, it began to experience growth year over year, all due to the tireless work of Jason and his growing team.

Achieving Growth

By his own admission, staff time became the very obvious limiting factor on GMA's growth. The passion that led to the creation of GMA had translated into working 100-hour work-weeks. Struggling to balance raising a family with the growth of the organization, Jason knew he had to find better tools that could serve as an extension of his team. It was time to subscribe to the old adage, 'work smarter, not harder.' There was still a need to grow GMA, but there was literally no capacity to pour into the effort. There were no more hours that could do anything to grow this passion into the vision he had for it. Growth was impossible – at least, it was impossible with the existing infrastructure.

Enter Novi AMS. By automating so many of the manual tasks that plagued the staff before; by allowing integrations from one system to the next; by working smarter – Jason and his team were able to leverage Novi AMS to serve as that force multiplier.

Here's what happened. Now that they're using Novi, GMA can host over 120 events and training sessions each year. Before Novi, managing each event and each registration used to be a heavily manual process. By Jason's own admission, management used to happen through a spreadsheet and Constant Contact alone. Novi’s events module, coupled with the QuickBooks Online sync, removed the need for manual, staff-driven work. It replaced hours of error prone manual tasks with a seamless system that helps thousands of particpants successfully attend GMA events both in-person and digitally.

In the first 18 months since switching to Novi, GMA doubled in size and scale at a pace they never dreamed possible. The best part? Jason is no longer working 16 hours per day!

Growth in 2020

Jason shared that Novi AMS was a true partner in the "pivot to digital" that the COVID-19 pandemic dictated. In a typical year, GMA hosts over 100 events successfully with a staff of four people. "I couldn't have done it without Novi," Jason said. However, social distancing required in the pandemic response resulted in a complete shift to virtual events over the past 10 months. Jason shared that he's hosted over 2,000 attendees, most of which have been digital participants, with ease. Jason said, "Novi's response for the transition to the Zoom environment has been huge - being able to quickly implement single sign on capability for events has been really helpful". 

Despite these challenges, GMA has been able to continue to realize program growth, even in 2020, and is positioned to continue its success well into the future thanks to the Novi AMS platform.
